Math Analysis / Calculus Honors
Summer 2020
Thurs & Fri, 3-5 PM
June 15 - August 7
Zoom online meetings
Calculus will be the most challenging and complex math that students will have encountered up to this point, but that doesn't mean it has to be impossible. My goals for this 8-week class (in combination with class during the school year) are to prepare students for the upcoming AP Calculus AB exam. But beyond that, I wish to help students develop a wholistic understanding of the mathematical concepts present in calculus. When students understand the "why" behind methods and concepts, problems become simpler and much more straightforward.
The topics that we will be covering during these 8-weeks include limits and continuity, derivatives, and derivatives applications. Classes will be held twice a week, with introductions to new concepts on the first session and practice on the second session. I will be assigning a few homework questions (less than 15 min) to constantly reinforce the new ideas after each class.
