Chemistry Honors
Summer 2020
Mon & Tues, 3-5 PM
June 15 - August 7
Zoom online meetings
Chemistry is arguably the most important of the 3 big science subjects. Basic chemistry knowledge is required for health sciences, many engineering fields, and of course chemistry fields. Having a solid foundation in high school chemistry is critical for future success. The topics tend to be foreign and abstract, and new students can get lost quickly. Thus, my goal for this class is to deeply familiarize students with the core concepts and allow them to succeed in their chemistry courses, including honors and AP, during the school year.
This course will focus on the principles of chemistry, including investigational techniques, atomic theory, stoichiometry, bonding, and periodicity. Classes will be held twice a week, with introductions to new concepts on the first session and practice on the second session. I will be assigning a few homework questions (less than 15 min) to constantly reinforce the new ideas after each class.
